Early in 2015, the project has organized a two day workshop for advocacy reaching individual members/ organizations of network. The workshop focused on development of an advocacy action plan for the issues related to Early Childhood Development of Roma, Ashkali and Egyptian children in Kosovo. The planed advocacy initiatives will focus on awareness raising about the importance of ECD, institutionalization of the pre-primary services provided by community centers and addressing the issues of discrimination in the classroom.
It is expected that the implementation of the initiatives will start during March 2015.
Following the finalization of the two rounds of training “Getting Ready for school” the practitioners have started with the regular monthly implementation of the activities with parents and children in the centers where they operate. The network is now organizing monitoring visits. The visits serve to monitor the implementation of the training programme and its activities but also to reflect and advice the practitioners during the implementation.
In total 18 practitioners working with Roma, Ashkali and Egyptian Children have taken part in the basic level of the Step by Step training. The training was consisted of five working days and aimed to increase the knowledge of the practitioners with the principles of child centred approach, establishment of enabling learning environment, techniques of cooperative learning among others.
The project continued with the provision of the quality professional development opportunities for its members. Two rounds of training “Getting ready for school” were organized, reaching in total 36 network members. The training has provided to the practitioners the tools to work with parents and to help them in working with their children during the early year’s period.
